As a member of the Irish Redhead Brigade, I fully agree with those four things..I do wish you would do a rant on the inappropriate use of the word “retard”. I am a mom of a child with Down Syndrome and Autism, and nothing gets me more irate than hearing people call each other “retard” or hear them say “you are so retarded” or that's retarded. Ive had my daughter with me in stores where walking by hearing people use that and my daughter is fully aware of what that word means. She knows she doesnt have the full cognitive abilities of other kids her age. And she knows I consider the word “retard” to be a “bad word” when used inappropriately like the examples given above. It hurts to hear that especially when she hears it and knows what it means. Boggles the mind, it does, that people have taken the English language and screwed it up so royally with expressions that weren't meant to be used the way they do now a days. Arghhhh. Help me out Red. Write a proper rant please?

Perfect.

You know what gives me warm fuzzies? When someone says any of the Four Indispensable Things with down-to-the-gut, bona fide sincerity; when that happens, the words are palpable and alive. I have a lot of work ahead of me, too. It's *good* work.

I'll start today with this: Thank you for opening up and crafting such a beautiful post. =)

I know you won't post this as it's not my real email address.

You are impressing me every few posts and this one has notched you up point again. I really like what you had to say here and I agree with you (and even tell people the same thing about 'sorry' and 'thank you' all the time!). One more that i usually tack on to those 2 is "i was wrong."

It stuns me at how many people can't say "I'm sorry, i was wrong."
